Box Canyon

The exodus to Washington is well underway.

We made a “house-hunting” trip up there last week, and took the opportunity to take some of the stuff we didn’t want handled by packers (like the CNC machine). Two thousand miles of driving in 8 days, and we get to do it again this weekend, too. Bonus! 🙂

The packers showed up yesterday. I have to say that getting packers is probably the best part of the whole relocation package. They turned the house inside out in a day, and now every room is packed to the gills with stacks of boxes. There is a little flotsam hanging around; they missed stuff that’s under the beds and &c. But pretty much the whole house is packed.

Lucy’s room has no nightlight; we had to leave the porch light burning all night. Brett’s room has no overhead light; he only has a nightlight. Our room has just one tiny bedstand lamp left.

We could have prepared better, I suppose. At the moment, anything that’s needed is… well, it’s probably in a box. We tried to watch Tivo last night, the Tivo is inside its original box taped inside another box. Yikes. That’s pretty much what our life looks like at the moment, canyons of boxes and a few people wandering around between them.

Today the packers assault the garage. Tomorrow the truck comes. The day after that, we leave California.

Breaking up is hard to do. But packers make it easier.
