Clear and cold

As I suspected, when the weather gets cold enough, the skies clear up here in WA.

Over the past couple days, the frost line has crept up from the grass to the bushes and now is up to the tops of the trees.

This has been coupled with gorgeous nights full of stars. I have been watching as Jupiter and the waxing moon have been drawing nearer each other; they should have a very pretty conjunction tonight.

When it’s cloudy, it’s cloudy, and even when it’s cold and clear, there are wisps of clouds up there. But it would be totally worth popping the roof of the observatory open to shoot a couple of photos of the sky right now…

… if I had an observatory.
