On the road again

Well, my TODO list just got a lot longer.

I’ve accepted a new job back in Washington, so my little family is going to end their California Adventure, at least for now.

It’s been a pretty good run for us here in CA; Kristi and I have really had a chance to work our way through married life and the early choices around child-rearing and finances and all the rest. We return to WA with a lot more job experience, and a lot more life experience, too.

I’ll miss month after month of sunny weather. I’ll miss the friends I’ve made, the places we’ve seen, and I’ll miss living in the home where I became a dad.

I look forward to spending more time with Anthony, and being able to fish and hunt during the correct season. I can’t wait to get my hands on some Teriyaki, and to spend some time at Bumbershoot.

If I want to be completely honest, I’m pretty conflicted about the move. The reasons I had for leaving Seattle are still there. The reasons I had for wanting the Bay Area are still here.

But there’s no time to think about that now. The next 4 weeks are going to see every single possession lifted, packed, and shipped. The kids are going to need my attention, too.

There will come a time when I’m able again to think about where I’ve been and where I’m going and muse about could-have-beens and never-was’s.

For now, “Bring ’em Back Alive” Harris just needs to concentrate on doing just that.
