I got a chance to go fishing in my favorite hole yesterday.
In all, it was a fully successful day on the water.
I reeled in 3 cutthroat trout, two females and one male. The largest was around 10″ and the smallest around 6″. 3 trout is enough for one person to have for dinner without much problem.
There were 3 other strikes, two which resulted in the lead getting caught on something and becoming lost, and one where the fish unhooked itself. In all, I lost 3 weights and one egg hook, and used up 10 hunks of bait or so. Not bad.
I was plunking for steelhead, of course. So trout wasn’t really the game I was after. But that’s fine. I’ll take “edible” over “bullhead” any day.
