little peeps

I finally knuckled under to the pressure of Kristi’s desire for a semi-rural farm today.

After much deliberation and anticipation, we are now the proud owners of 4 baby chicks. They are awful cute, one yellow fuzzball, one grey, and two mottled black ones.

The yellow and grey are Ameracauna breed, also known as “Easter Eggers”, because they lay blue and green eggs. I picked two that looked fairly different from each other.

The mottled ones are Silver-Laced Wyandottes (Wine-dot), which will end up having very cool-looking black feathers with white edges.

There is a lot of peeping and pooping and huddling under the heat lamp going on.

Welcome to Hilltop, little chicks.
