Woodworking projects

My wife said that she’d like to come up with a wood working project that she and I can do together.

For instance, her Mom and Dad made some little benches that were cute. She thinks it would be fun for us to do something like that together and she could learn how to use a lot of the tools.

That sounds like a lot of fun to me. I’d like to do a project together.

We could try some benches perhaps — the size of the object is less important than the type of joints it requires, so a bench (which only requires butt joints) is easier than a bookcase (which requires some corner joints) is easier than a jewelry box (which requires very precise corner joints).

Not that I’m afraid of jewelry boxes; we just don’t have a planer (which makes surfaces parallel to each other) or a jointer (which makes edges 90 degrees), so our box-making ability is somewhat curtailed.

If we put our heads together, we should be able to find a project that fits the tools we have and our skill level and that will also be fun to build.
