NGC2244, The Rosette Nebula in Monoceros

NGC2239
Finally, a halfway-decent shot of The Rosette Nebula.
This object could have been shoehorned into the FOV a little better,
and of course would have been a snap in Pumpkin.
But Veronica did a serviceable job at this big nebula, and I'll give it another go
when I get a chance.
NGC2239
In short, I missed.
In the upper right hand corner of this image is NGC2239, a chunk of The Rosette Nebula.
I meant to try to cram in the whole thing, but I don't know the starfield at all, and I mistook
the cluster that's to the lower left of center to be NGC2244 (it's definitely not). Nice detail in the parts that I picked up, but the center of the nebula is a lot brighter. Maybe next time.
NGC2244
An example of serendipity.
I was trying to find this nebula, was using GOTO, couldn't be sure I had it,
so I only shot one frame of it. Turns out I was dead on.
Lesson learned. By the time the Rosette comes around this winter, I won't need GOTO to find it,
and I'll know to keep shooting in the dark at the star cluster in the center of the photo.
A new nemesis. Wonderful.
