![]() A second clear night in a row gave me a shot at getting a full 2 hours of B33. The sky background sure isn't dark. The moon was a little bright tonight, but at the other end of the sky. Also, there were some clouds. |
A rare clear night during January. This was shot perhaps a bit too late at night.I did 2 hours on (what I thought was) The Rosette, see that image for details. Orion was still high, so I thought I'd plow in a couple of hours on The Horsehead. It had been awhile since I'd been out, so I forgot to check mount clearance. The scope hit the mount after 23 frames, but I was inside warming up, so I lost 40 frames of this object. Bummer. Came out pretty good for only 45 minutes or so, but I would have liked to have seen 2 hours. I *really* like the diffraction spikes around the star. Focus was tack sharp. |
This is the Red channel from the previous image. Lots of cool detail in the nebulosity.

Pumpkin first light. I was wrapping up for the night, knew I had the FOV to sort of aim in the general area and probably get my target, and shot one 3min frame just to prove myself right. Darker skies and a somewhat longer integration time might just be the keys to a better shot of this dim nebula. But it had been 3 full years since I tried it (and the first time on digital), so I figured I'd throw something up there to make me feel like I was trying. |
